Research Highlights  

The adhesive of the barnacle reaches the surface of attachment through systematically distributed duct openings throughout its shell-base. (Mater. Sci. Eng. C)The peripheral region of a barnacle-corroded steel surface. The adhesive interacts selectively with the grain boundaries of the metal initiating corrosion. Here the non-attacked surface is also seen. (Colloids. Surf. B)Barnacle adhesive on a titanium surface (Biofouling: The Journal of Bioadhesion and Biofilm Research)The hafnia nanocrystallites precipitated out from the amorphous ceramic matrix of Si-Hf-C-N-O is observed to remain in the metastable tetragonal form below a critical crystallite radius of 4 nm. New.. Dr. Ravi Kumar will spend a period of one month from 2nd May 2012 - 3rd June 2012 as a visiting professor in Polytech Lille (University of Lille), France.

The Indo-US S&T Forum (IUSSTF) has invited Dr. Ravi Kumar to participate in the 4th Indo-American Frontiers of Science (FOS) Symposium to be held at Irvine (California), the USA from 17 - 20 April 2011. The IUSSTF will cover the travel, boarding and accommodation expenses for attending the symposium at the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Center in Irvine, California from 17-20 April 2011. The invitation is intended to bring together outstanding scientists below the age of 45 from India and the US. The Indo-US S&T Forum is a bilateral body mandated to promote Indo-US cooperation in science and technology.
